Winter - Christmas - The Holidays & S.A.D.

Winter - Christmas - The Holidays

I'm too easily distracted. I can't believe there are only 6 more days and Fall is officially out. Hello, Winter.

One of the many things I love about living in LA - It doesn't snow. A lot of people living in the East Coast often say that we have a "Barbie Doll" weather over here. It may seem like that but it doesn’t actually feel that way. Especially when you are alone. It could get rather cold on days and nights that you're not doing any activity - whatever that may be.

According to Research, SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder in the Winter time is caused by lack of bright light. The number of people affected by this disorder dramatically increases during the cold and dark season.

Los Angeles gets a decent amount of sunlight even in the cold. With an annual precipitation amount of only 15 inches that greatly pours over Winter season, I still can't help but feel a little bit gloomy most days.

I did some further readings on the article about Seasonal Affective Disorder , it's symptoms and how to defeat it.

• Sleep problems - oversleeping but not refreshed, cannot get out of bed, needing a nap in the afternoon
• Overeating - carbohydrate craving leading to weight gain
• Depression, despair, misery, guilt, anxiety - normal tasks become frustratingly difficult
• Family / social problems - avoiding company, irritability, loss of libido, loss of feeling
• Lethargy - too tired to cope, everything an effort
• Physical symptoms - often joint pain or stomach problems, lowered resistance to infection
• Behavioral problems - especially in young people

Maybe I overreacted as I'm only experiencing the first symptom. Still, it's best to be aware than be blue on the holidays.

I'm too easily distracted.
Before my memory restarts,
I want to wish you all a Merry ho ho ho Christmas and a prosperous New Year!

Enjoy the Holidays ya'll.
